All or Nothing Day or “Carpe Diem”

A day to live your life to it’s fullest potential.

Fellow mom and mesothelioma survivor, Heather Von St. James  asked me to help her use this day to kick off awareness of mesothelioma and I happily obliged.

Heather was diagnosed with mesothelioma three months after giving birth to her daughter, Lily. Her cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos fibers in her father’s construction work jacket. Her treatment included the removal of her left lung.

Thankfully,  Heather is a 9 year survivor of a cancer that usually claims the lives of it’s victims in the first year of diagnosis.

Facts about Mesothelioma

• Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer caused only by asbestos exposure.
• Asbestos was widely used up through the 1970’s in building materials.
• Asbestos is still not banned in the US and Canada.
• Mesothelioma affects the lining of the organs, most commonly, the lungs.

I am so pleased that Heather chose to allow me to help spread her message of hope! I hope you will celebrate her journey with us and spread the word about mesothelioma.

Heather’s story reminds me that we all face challenges in life, but the greatest challenge is living your life to its fullest potential.  Like Heather, I want to be an advocate for families in transition.  To live my life, loving my daughter and teaching her the best I can.  To leave those in my life with positive memories of me. Not only because they love me, but because I made a difference.  I want a create a legacy of hope and positivity, just like Heather is creating with this campaign.
