I am blessed to see another day. I have been waiting to share my own “secret” for many months. I suppose mostly because I lived with a lot of shame until a few months ago. But through an incredible amount of pain, I found a purpose. I have created Left Out: Families in TRANSition. A place for families, like my own, who are at various stages their own family transition. The group is aimed to support family members of transgender individuals.
Over the next few months, I will be sharing my own story. From the moment my husband told me he didn’t feel like a male, the anger, the grief and the release of my own guilt. The focus will never be about the person who has or will go through a gender transition, but out the family members who are left wondering where to go and what to do with their own feelings.
